Galatians 5: 13-14
You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
Here, I feel the freedom is from the death which follows unforgiven sin- freedom from some unknown limbo or nothingness. We have the freedom to live our lives confidently and without fear. But this comes at a price. God expects much from us. Today I am reminded of God’s expectations from me. I will try to live out these verses.
Father God, you have given me freedom from fear, and even though I forget sometimes, I am always thankful. I am not always sure I am deserving, but I am thankful. I will try anew to live up to your expectations for me. Amen

Galatians 5:13-14
For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity , but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.
Freedom is not a ( get out of jail free pass) continually doing what you want without consequence, freedom is living in obedience to God's will. Freedom results when our actions align with God's will. What Jesus offers is not only the forgiveness of sins, but freedom FROM sin - no longer a prisoner of sin. Because I know this, God wants me to to be free from sin so he gave me the freedom…
Galatians 5:13-14 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh, rather, serve on another humbly in love. For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
My freedom in Christ is the freedom to choose what is right. It is through the grace of the Holy Spirit that I have the strength to do all that I am called to do on a daily basis. This doesn’t mean that I will be perfect at everything for those I love, I can only serve in love to all I meet and let God’s power work in and through my life.
Dearest Lord,…
Galatians 5: 13-14
Paul reminds the Galatians, “do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh.” Unbelievers misunderstand free will as freedom to choose whatever gives them pleasure and at the most base level they are correct. People of faith acknowledge that by reigning in this perception of freedom and choosing the more perfect path of love for God and neighbor makes for a world that is more free for more people. Simply put, freedom is not all about me.
Prayer - Loving God, we love You because You first loved us. Help us to use the freedom You have given us to extend Your love to others and not simply pursue personal pleasure. Amen
