Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.“
When we seek God, we are at the same time seeking righteousness. Righteousness in the world can only happen with a closer communion with God. Seeking money, power or recognition have nothing to do with this. I pray that in all I do, all I hope and live for, God is at the center. The longing to know God, to find and live out His will for me, is my thirst for Him. Amen

Just as water and food nourish our bodies, Gods word and His mercy nourish our souls. Righteousness is something I think believers strive for, our thirst to be right with God is real and our goal even though we fall short from time to time.
Heavenly Father, please help me to be right with you, guide me to live the way you desire for me, that is what I want as well. I pray I do not lose my thirst for righteousness. In Jesus holy name, amen.

Matthew 5:6
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
This verse is part of the Sermon on the Mount,(the beatitudes, meaning blessings) Jesus talks about love, compassion, and selflessness. He encourages his listeners to love their enemies, to forgive others, and to care for the poor and marginalized. He also emphasizes the importance of humility, telling his followers not to worry about personal possessions but to focus on living a life of righteousness and integrity. Jesus cannot express strongly enough this powerful message for our lives. As we walk through each day, trying to understand the complications of this modern world, it can be easy to get caught up…
Matthew 5:6
These words from Jesus, along with others such as, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened, and keep on asking, are important to our journey. These words are His reminder that our thirst for Him is just an ask or a knock away. If we keep Him near, we will be filled. So often in times of despair, we forget this and focus on ourselves (poor me) and forget to knock. He will give us all we need as we try to live the life He wants from us.
Prayer: Gracious God, May I never forget how close your help always is. AMEN
Matthew 5:6
This verse is a reminder to me to keep things simple. Our physical sense of thirst is completely addressed by water. We do not depend on “enhanced” water, juice, milk, soda, beer or wine to hydrate our bodies. The same simplicity can apply to food and hunger. Keeping spiritual life simple is a hallmark of the Christian life. Jesus boiled the law and the prophets down to loving God and loving neighbor. Micah reminds us to simply “do justice, love kindness and walk humbly with our God.” This is echoed by John Wesley’s three simple rules: “Do good. Do no harm. Stay in love with God.” Staying focused on righteousness as spiritual food and drink will fully sustain…
