Micah 6:8
He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
If we have an attitude of humility before God, how can we turn and be anything other than humble before our neighbor? God has commanded that we love our neighbors. God is so great, so gigantic and powerful, we can easily accept the command to be humble before Him. But I think this verse goes so much further. We are to act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with God. This involves others, our neighbors. Our interactions and love for our neighbors comes from our obedience to God.
Holy Lord, when I am humble before you, I am humble and loving with my neighbor. Thank you for this lesson today. May I keep these words in my heart. Amen

Humility is probably the most important virtue, but it is probably the most difficult to accomplish. Do I walk humbly with God , am I totally dependent on God, do I think more highly of myself than others. If I have a humble heart, and attitude will my humility show In how I think and treat others as well as how I speak about my own life. This verse is very direct and to the point. As I spend each day in scripture and…
Micah 6:8
This is one on the verses from the Bible that seem to distill pages and pages of instruction to the bare essentials. Little wonder that this single verse, brimming with wisdom has been made into a hymn we still sing in worship today. The three simple instructions perfectly complement one another and spell out a way of living and interpersonal relationships that would reinvigorate the entire world if put into practice. As this has to start somewhere, why not us - those who call themselves followers of Jesus, who embodied this Old Testament teaching? If we faithfully do justice and love mercy, how can we not be walking humbly with our God?
Prayer - Lord, shape my heart…
