John 14:15
"If you love me, keep my commands."
Jesus made this simple for the disciples, unlike some of his previous instructions and parables. We can show our love and loyalty to Christ by living as he would have us live. We can live in this world, but continue to resist being of this world. We can focus on loving and accepting others, mirroring the love of Christ. There is a lot of love in this world, and when we recognize and promote this love, we are being loyal to Christ.
Father God, help me to focus on the good in this world, and on the ways in which I can live out your commands. Showing love to others is a first step.
Amen

John 14:15
As often happens to me, a song came to mind as I read the short verse of Jesus’ words as he was preparing his disciples for the future without him. There is a wonderful cantata called “Upon this Rock.” The song is called “do you love me.”That question is sung by the Jesus. The answer is “yes Lord.” Then the Lord replies “feed my lambs.” And the song ends with “follow me.” And we now know today the loyalty of those disciples who did just that and helped spread his word by feeding his lambs and following in his footsteps.
Prayer: gracious God, thank you for the simple, short verse that teachers us all we need to know. Amen
John 24:15 “If you love me keep my commands.”
Jesus taught us that if we follow Him, we need to show love for others. Our love for Jesus shows the loyalty we have to His teachings. This is such a simple statement but one that may be difficult for us to do each and every day. Showing loyalty to Jesus is to be obedient to His teachings.
Dearest Lord, you sent Jesus to us to redeem us. I thank you for this wonderful chance to eternal life. Following in Jesus’ footsteps is sometimes difficult but it can be done. In his name I pray. Amen.

John 14: 15
If you love me you will obey what I command
It is hard not to include the before and after verses with this verse. Jesus continues explaining to his disciples about his departure but he would still be with them by the Holy Spirit. In this brief but powerful passage, Jesus talks about his favorite emotion which is love. Soon Jesus would leave the world, but he would not desert his disciples. Although people in general would not see him any longer, his disciples would, in a sense, continue to see him. They would see and know him spiritually, because he would live within them. He would love them, and in return the…
John 14:15 Indeed loyalty can be a manifestation of the depth of our love. Unfortunately, the first phrase of this verse is used by self-centered, cruel and/or wicked people to manipulate others. The loyalty borne of love is a sacred trust whether it be between humans or God and humans. The latter however, can never go off track. Belief and confidence in God’s steadfast love for us produces a loyalty that brings a strong desire to obey God’s commands and conviction and repentance when we stray from them.
Prayer - Eternal God, let my loyalty to Your commands be the benchmark of my love and serve as a sign to others that points to Your throne of grace. Amen
