Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all your heart

and lean not on your own understanding;

in all your ways submit to him,

and he will make your paths straight.

Our “own understanding “ is often what leads us in the wrong direction. Stopping to meet with God, to ask for direction, and to ask for wisdom to be able to see His will, are steps I have a tendency to skip over. Lately I have spent more time in prayer and have found comfort and peace just from submitting to Him. I need to have faith He will show me the way when my next difficult decision comes along.

Holy Lord, you know my heart and my struggles. Show me the way to the peace and comfort you have promised, and even more importantly, the wisdom to follow your will. Amen

Proverbs 3:5-6

I was happy to read in one commentary, that careful thinking and using our God-given abilities was not wrong. But, and there is always a but, we should not exclude God in this process. This is where trust comes in. Make a decision then turn to God and use his words to be sure you are on the right path.

Prayer: Gracious God, remind me to always seek your guidance, especially when I think I know exactly what to do! AMEN

Proverbs 3:5-6

Our worldly minds get in the way of our relationship with God sometimes. I, myself, tend to be “the fixer”. I feel like I should have answers or solutions to the many conundrums that are thrown in my path or in the path of those dear to me. I have to learn to pull in those reins, I must be better at learning to accept what I can’t control and turn that over to God. He alone has the answers, and he alone gives me the guidance I need. Even as a believer, I stumble from time to time through this part of my relationship with God. Some days I’m better than other days.

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct  your paths.

I’m thinking  what it would look like in my life today, spending all day long, acknowledging him in all that  I do, at every moment. God does not want every minute of my time every day of my life.  He gave us free will, enabling us to make our own choices never forgetting our genuine relationship with him. Where his love and devotion are freely given, rather than forced. We can choose between good and evil, allowing us to grow morally and spiritually through these decisions. …

Proverbs 3:5-6

Indecision and trust are largely incompatible. Developing trust takes time and intentional cultivation of relationship. This applies to God as well as it does to other people. God will only make my paths straight if I get out of the way and let God lead. That has become increasingly easy in this season of life, particularly when looking back at the times when I foolishly tried to lean on my own feeble understanding. Trust replaces indecision and anxiety with contentment and security.

Prayer - Almoghty God, my daily goal is to submit to You so that You make my paths straight. May the Holy Spirit remind me at all times the dangers of trying to lean on m…
