A Daily Devotion for Friday, August 18

Proverbs 18:10

The name of the Lord is a fortified tower;

the righteous run to it and are safe.

Psalm 23:6

Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

We know that believing in God and following God does not prevent bad things from happening to us here in this life. But we find safety and comfort in Christ because we know we are not alone, and we know where we will spend eternity.

Holy Lord, you are my shepherd, and I know you will not lead me into any danger. I am thankful for your love and your promise. Amen

God identified His name to Moses as: "I AM that I AM," for He is everything that we need in every area of life. One beautiful picture of the Lord can be seen as a Strong Tower, where "the righteous runs into it and are safe." What a precious promise for all God's

Proverbs 18:10 Psalm 23:6. KJ version

The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runners into it, and is safe.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

I used the King James translation because that is the one I memorized as a 3rd grader as part of my requirement to earn my Bible. I can still recite this Psalm today. Then, I just concentrated on the words to get them right. As an adult I concentrated on the meaning of the words. I do know that he is always following or is by my side and that my future …

Proverbs 18:10/Psalm 23:6

Trust in God gains the one who believes entrance into the house of the Lord forever. Moreover, that house is a fortified tower where there is no longer pain, suffering, injustice and evil. Why would one who seriously looks at the alternative choose to spend eternity elsewhere? We have been sent to share that hope with others to help keep that from happening. It is what Wesley called “the priesthood of all believers.”

Prayer - Saving God, help me to share Your indescribable gift to one who does not know You. Allow me to share the key to Your house, Your fortified tower. Amen
