Hebrews 13:5
Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ”Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
This is difficult advice to follow. There are times when money has a real allure; especially when there isn’t quite enough of it, and there is a financial deadline approaching. I have spent a fair amount of time worrying about money. But things do always work out. Where money is concerned, we can always be thankful to God, because it is all his to begin with, and he will bring us to the other side of every crisis.
Lord God, you continue to teach me and to clarify your plan for me. Help me to stay on the right path. Thank-you, Lord. Amen

Hebrews 13:5 Don’t love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, I will never fail you. I will never abandon you. To help understand this verse, my study Bible refers me to Yesterdays reading. It seems these readings are about being content with what you have and not always wanting more so that having more money becomes your goal. Both readings tell us to balance our wants and needs, keeping in mind what God wants for us and remembering he is always there. Prayer: gracious God, I know that the things I want are only temporary but your love is forever. Amen

Hebrews 13:5
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
At my age I have become content with what I need, rather than what I want. I live on a fixed income in retirement and so money has to be budgeted always. This doesn't mean I never seek improvements, like a new kitchen, bathroom or new floors and on and on I go, but it does mean I stay conscious of how lucky I really am in finding contentment in everyday living. .Being retired Allows me more time to do what matters, being kinder to everyone o…
Hebrews 13:5
Scripture, and Jesus Himself raise the issue of money and wealth many times. We may like what money can provide, but countless very wealthy people over centuries have learned it does not provide assurance of pardon, salvation and eternal life. If I am convinced God will never leave, nor forsake me, a day to day concern about money takes on far less importance, even when it appears there will be more month than money. Balance is found in our trust in God’s provision.
Prayer - God of provision, as we commemorate the horrific events of the day Your Son was arrested, falsely accused, tortured and murdered on a cross, may we be reminded that in this supremely sacrificial…
Hebrews 13: 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”
An unhealthy obsession with money could lead to discontent with life. We need to find a balance in our lives to be content with what we have and thank God for these gifts. Today, Good Friday, I am reminded that God gave us Jesus and his death on the cross as a gift that tells us that he will never leave us behind. We have the Holy Spirit in our hearts as a reminder of God’s love and understanding.
Dearest Lord, on this Good Friday I want…
