Isaiah 43:18-21

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. The wild animals honor me, the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland, to give drink to my people, my chosen, the people I formed for myself that they may proclaim my praise.

It is Christmas Day! A day of an unfathomable gift of love from God: a brand new thing planned for us by God from the very beginning. It is never too late to be reborn and to begin again. The miracle of Jesus’ birth reminds us each year of God’s love for us. As in 1 John 4:19: “We love because he first loved us.” And so we spend today together with those we love, giving one another tokens of that love. Because we do love, and we can love, because he showed us love.

Holy Father, today we celebrate the birth of your son, Jesus Christ. Not everyone is able to be together today with those they cherish. May we be filled with love nonetheless, remembering your many gifts. May we love one another fully, freely, generously, as you have taught us. Amen

Happy Birthday, Jesus.

Isaiah 43: 18-21

18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.”

I read this verse and I feel that this is telling me that God is giving me an opportunity to start over every day of my life here on earth. What I learn from past mistakes should be used to go forward and learn more about what God has planned for me. Looking forward gives me the opportunity to notice God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit and what they are attempting to help me do with my life. This will teach me what particular traits I may have and use these to do something for God every day.

Dearest Lord, you do such…

Isaiah 43:18-21

So I asked myself what is wrong with the past? Many of our holidays such as thanksgiving and Christmas focus on the past. Dwelling on the past isn’t necessarily wrong. Sometimes it is very good and necessary. The past has great scripture of God and His mighty acts, but our lives can't stop there. Have we ever said what great things God did but never say what great things God is doing for us now? God is not saying that the past things are unimportant but only that He is the Living God and lives to make a difference every day of our lives. Does God delight in involving us in His new plans. Unfortunately, the new a…

Isaiah 43:18-21 What a wonderful lesson for today. Isaiah tells us to look forward for wonderful things are coming. Do not dwell on regrets of the past. We know the prophet was speaking of the greatest gift God would offer to us, Jesus. The passage offers Hope to the people, something they badly needed at the time. We always should live with hope for the future. Prayer: Gracious God Thank you for your precious gift of your Son. May we realize that our belief in him and his teachings are what give us our hopes for the future. AMEN

Isaiah 43:18 - “Do not remember the former things,

or consider the things of old.”

Some consider it a negative trait, but I try to make my memory selective. I choose not to dwell on past failures, pain or suffering. I accept their lessons, yes, but then move on - at least that is my intent. This passage from Isaiah is justification for this point of view, in my opinion. Whatever the former things or things of old, God is always going to do a new thing with the old ones and it will be for our good.

Prayer - God of new things, thank You for renewing in our hearts the wonder of the birth of the Christ child.…
