November and December have both been productive months for CUMC in serving “the least of these”. In addition to donated fresh produce for Thanksgiving Food Baskets thru Human Services, the Outreach Committee approved $100 donation towards additional onions, celery, carrots, apples and oranges for families in town who experience food insecurity. 65 Food baskets were distributed throughout town. The outpouring of donations for Dimitri’s Family’s Gift this year broke all records. People in this community and beyond needed to express pure kindness – they were truly anxious to give. Besides providing over 170 meals, the restaurant also donated turkeys to the Warner Connects Food Pantry bringing warmth and sustenance to many families. One young lady who received a turkey at work was able to donate it, in turn, to an 86 year young resident who immediately planned to make lots of turkey sandwiches to pass out to neighbors. Pies were quietly brought in to the restaurant from countless folks and of course the bakers at the United Methodist Church.
