A daily prayer from the New England Conference
The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Psalm 1 Psalm 54 Mark 9:30-37 (But they did not understand what he was saying and were afraid to ask) Yes, Lord, I agree with Peter, Mark, and all the rest. They didn’t understand what you were saying. If I’m honest, sometimes I don’t either. I want to know your plan for my life, but I’m afraid to ask. Give me the courage to hear when you speak to me. Yes, Lord, I sympathize with the disciples’ fears. To ask a holy one, what do you mean? It seems so presumptuous. So, I reveal my fears to you trusting you will sort through them with a kind heart and with compassionate understanding. Yes, Lord, Our days are filled with uncertainty and loss. So much space used up to report grim events and shattered lives. I want to believe all will be well, but my heart breaks in despair. Give me hope in this moment and enough for the next one. Yes, Lord, this day is yours. I give it to you I trust you will anoint it with grace and return each moment to me with abundant blessings and peace. Thank you, Lord. You are always here. Amen. By Rev. Dr. Henrietta “Ricki” Aiello, pastor of the Windsorville United Methodist Church of Windsorville, CT, Seacoast District.
