Daily Prayer

Sept. 5, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Loving God, I struggle to understand that even when I am lost you know where I am. You continue your quest for my heart and soul and all that I am. I have wandered further than I ever imagined from the place you had hoped for me. I have been let down more than I can understand and I have turned and done the same to those who I love including you. I know you desire for me to turn around and find my way back to your love and grace. I struggle to imagine that anyone could welcome me back, let alone celebrate when I show up. Yet I am more than a sheep or a coin, I am your child and your grace knows no limit. Help me take that first step, steer me in the direction of your love. Teach me to forgive myself and those who have hurt me, just as you long to celebrate my repentance. May I listen for the sounds of the angels celebrating my return to your home of grace and forgiveness. I pray in the name of the one who will celebrate more than any other, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
