A daily prayer from the New England Conference
Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
So I went down to the potter’s house, and there he was working at his wheel. The vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter’s hand, and he reworked it into another vessel, as seemed good to him. (Jeremiah 18:3-4)
Divine Artisan,
you who calls forth life from the dust,
you who creates beauty and diversity,
you who delights in the dwarf willow and the giant sequoia,
the pigmy shrew and the African elephant,
reassure me that I, too, am your lovingly fashioned creation.
When my life becomes misshapen,
when I have disappointed myself or others, (or worst of all, you)
when my selfishness,
or carelessness,
or wrongdoing have marred the image of Christ in me,
remind me that I am still a work in progress.
Remind me that –
like clay on the potter’s wheel –
I will not be rejected or discarded,
but continue to be formed and reformed as seems good to you.
Master Potter,
help me to remain as malleable as clay in your hands,
so that my heart bears the imprint of your fingers,
and my life assumes the shape that you design.
With your great wisdom and artistry,
mold me into a vessel
for your love and grace.
