Daily Prayer

Aug. 16, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

O Holy and Gracious God,

You are the Lord of each and every day.

We honor you not only on the sabbath. Whether it be on our working days,

our good days, or difficult days,

we praise you, for you are omnipresent.

We confess our tendency to put lifeless forms before life itself.

Like the synagogue leader as Jesus healed the cripple on the Sabbath,

We often dismiss, and even criticize, your holy interruptions of compassion and mercy.

Forgive our narrow-minded and critical spirit, Help us to realize that your love is limitless, Open our closed minds and transform our flawed thinking.

Help us to acknowledge our brokenness inside of us,

Come and touch our hearts and minds, Straighten them up, and liberate us from that bondage,

Make us whole, our Redeemer.

In Christ’s name, we pray. Amen.
