Daily Prayer

April 21, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Holy One, On this new morning of resurrection, I give thanks for my band of friends at church. We are your Easter people - all ages, sizes, shapes and of the rainbow. We come with experiences and ideas that grow my understanding of you. Each one teaches me. Each one matters to the whole. Thank you for all of them. It would be hard to know you without them. With them, I learn to be a more faithful follower, a better lover of you. You appear to us together – when we gather to pray, worship, eat, study, play, serve, and mourn. When I am absent, I can lose sight of you and it can be hard to believe the things you have done. I can struggle. When I am absent, it can be hard to believe in our oneness. Thank you for seeking me. The words of the scriptures live and breathe in the thoughts, words, and deeds of my friends. Your Spirit comes alive among us when we receive and show up for each other. This morning of resurrection, I give thanks for these friends - and the ever new life that we share in you. Amen. Rev. Ted Crass, President, The United Methodist Foundation of New England Inspiration: John 20.19-31
