Daily Prayer

March 29, 2022

A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Loving God, in these days when our televisions screens are filled again with the ravages of war and the slaughter of the innocents, we are reminded that we need to believe in new things. We desire a world that has set aside the ways of war, but we continue to wander in the wilderness of violence and destruction. Even as we pray for peace, we know that our own government seeks to build the next generation of weapons to overcome our enemies. We desire a new thing that sees the humanity in all persons and desires for them to be free and flourish. Teach us to put away the selfishness, greed and power that leads us to places of war and violence. May we discover a way through the wilderness of war to the place where peace may burst forth in our lives and in our world. May the Ukrainians who weep for the destruction of their nation, find a way to shout with joy as the world stands with them against those who seek to destroy. May our dreams of peace become the new thing that you make possible. We pray in the name of the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

By Wesley Palmer, PAS Executive Director Inspired by Isaiah 43: 16-21 and Psalm 126
