A daily prayer from the New England Conference

Members of the New England Conference Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

“… And Jesus increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favor.”Luke 2.52

Holy One, The miracle of your coming is now! At this intersection of mystery and reality, sometimes it can be easier for us to feel and harder to understand. Our images of a warm, cozy stable, and bright Christmas morning – give way to the day after, and the challenges we face. We need Christmas. Thank you for your giving of the Christ child to the world and the invitation he brings. With each Christmas – whether our first or our 90th – Let us be aware of the new opportunities for us to grow and learn and to gain in wisdom as we gain in years. Let us preserve our wonder, as we experience and participate in your divine creativity. The truth of your presence with us both comforts and convicts. Grateful and unafraid, let this truth stir us to faithful living and action. On this day that you have made, let our thoughts, words and actions point us to welcome the coming of the Christ and the experience of your joy. Amen.

Rev. Ted Crass, President, The United Methodist Foundation of New England. Inspiration: Col 3.12-17; Luke 2.46-52
