Today's Prayer

Good morning God. As I read Mary’s story this morning I am flooded with memories. I was in such a hurry toward work when he first stirred and stopped me in my tracks. A flutter. Later a leap. A child. Thank you, God, for Spirit filled friends who rejoiced with me in this movement. Friends of my younger days, with their proclamations of possibility Holy, holy, holy and celebration of promise Blessed. Ours is the song of the mothers, of Elizabeth and Mary. Ours are the lives that may not make headlines But that hold the promise of the future: Mercy Strength Righteousness Remembrance Full Thank you, God, for lifting us up into your birthing. for giving us friends for the journey, for the provisions that get us through for holding us close enough to live through the fear and the frustration of now until then the promise is complete.

By Rev. Karen L. Munson, DMIN, Many Waters District Superintendent Luke 1:39-45, (46-55)
