Proverbs 2:1-11
My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
turning your ear to wisdom
and applying your heart to understanding —
indeed, if you call out for insight
and cry aloud for understanding,
and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
Then you will understand what is right and just
and fair—every good path.
For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
Discretion will protect you,
and understanding will guard you.
This passage from Proverbs really hits home for me. God comes to us when we go to him. It is easy for me to withdraw from my relationship with God when things are going badly. I find it hard to be thankful in difficult situations. But these verses remind me (as do many other passages in scripture), it is especially important to go to God when we are needing Him. He is waiting for us, and has never left us. We can be thankful in all situations that God never leaves us.
Holy Lord, I am thankful for your presence, at all times, and in all circumstances. Please forgive me for the times I try to turn away. I know you love me, and will never leave me. Amen

Proverbs 2;10-11
If I need the answer to a question these days, my first instinct is to "google" it! How deep is the ocean--google it. How far away is Canada--google it. It is right there at our finger tips; BUT what if my questions are about my beliefs or my behavior? Where do I turn for help? If I turned to my bible as easily as I do google, I can be assured of the reminders about God's love and his presence with me always. The wisdom in his words is beyond measure.
Prayer: Gracious God, May I always remember to use your words of wisdom as my guide throughout my life. AMEN
Proverbs 2:1-11
Now, more than ever in my nearly 7 decades on this earth the truth is so elusive. Slanted news, outlets, social media, AI… All have the strong potential to lead us into a dark rabbit hole that can separate us from God. We could never really know what the truth is. The only truth to follow is the truth of God. In our earthly arrogance, we may think we are in control but that is a ridiculous path to nowhere. We may not always understand, God’s ways are much higher than ours, His way looks different than ours, our way is based on momentary emotions. Admittedly turning things over to God isn’t always easy, we like control. As…
Proverbs 2:1-11
“For the LORD gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.”
We kid ourselves if we think we can turn our back on God and become masters of our own destiny. This prideful thinking was a spectacular fail in the Garden and continues so today. There are any number of paths God’s gift of free will would have allowed me to choose. I was stubborn, but eventually yielded fully to the wisdom given by the LORD. Knowing I am not a ultimately in charge of anything is liberating. Knowing God walks with me even through the shadow of the valley of death is comforting. It gives me the strength and resolve to keep putting one foot in…
