A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, members of the Granite District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.
You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today's Prayer
Exodus 16:2 The whole congregation of the Israelites complained against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness. 16:12 "I have heard the complaining of the Israelites; say to them, 'At twilight you shall eat meat, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread; then you shall know that I am the LORD your God.'"16:15 When the Israelites saw it, they said to one another, "What is it?" For they did not know what it was. Moses said to them, "It is the bread that the LORD has given you to eat. NRSV God, it has been a long seven months and there is more to come. Sometimes we feel like the Israelites as they wandered through the wilderness, remembering the past as safety and not as slavery. We feel like we have lost our direction just when we want to see the end most. And our complaining is poisoning relationships. We ask you for peace, justice, and hope. Yet we let our complaints sour us and prevent just what we are looking for. Could it be that you have offered us just what we need to move forward, but we don’t recognize it? Help us to ask the questions that will lead to change. Help us to listen to uncomfortable answers. Help us to have the courage to put questions and answers into actions. Help us to recognize the people who are traveling with us on this journey and give us the strength to support one another. May we come out of the wilderness stronger than before – strong in patience, love, faith, and the ability to make changes so that all the world will know that we are family, together.
