A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Commonwealth East District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Matthew 21: 33 - 46 Gracious God, Are we good tenants? Are we tending Your fields? Can You trust that we will share our harvest? Are we treating You well as the outsider asking for their share of what is already Yours? Have we honored our covenant with You? And how shall we respond if the answer is “No”? What fruit can we offer You this day? Lord, make us a channel of Your peace. Are we like the chief priests? Are we like the Pharisees? Have we mistaken Your will for our own? Are You frustrated by how we ignore those in need? Do You grow weary of our selfish desires? And how shall we respond if the answer is “Yes”? What fruit can we offer You this day? Lord, make us a channel of Your peace. Thank you for Your patience. Thank you for Your Grace and forgiveness. Thank you for another day to try and do better. Thank you for our redeemer, Jesus Christ, and in His name, we offer this prayer. Amen. Chris Longman, Lay Pastor, Harbor United Methodist Church (Scituate, MA)
