A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Katahdin District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Based on Ephesians 1:15-23

To the people called United Methodists in New England,

I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the church, and for this reason, I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers. Today I pray:

God of our Lord Jesus Christ, Father of glory, give us a taste of the wisdom of your Spirit that we may REALLY know what faith in Christ is all about. It's about Lordship, it's about power and the right use thereof. It's about power that has hope-in-you and hope-for-the-other at its root.

Lord Jesus, who in God's great love for us was given the fullness of this power, you ARE our Lord. Though you have been placed ABOVE all and could demand our submission, yet you call the church to be your BODY! To be your fullness! Power with hope at its feet and justice in its heart.

May the people called United Methodists in New England know what is the hope to which we have been called, what are the riches of Jesus' inheritance to us, and what is the immeasurable greatness of HIS power. Amen.

Rev Dr Tracy Reeves, pastor Old Town UMC, Stillwater Federated and Mattawamkeag UMC
