A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis for November 12, 2020

November 12, 2020 A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, the Commonwealth West District is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. ___________________________________________________________________ Today’s Prayer

Inspired by Judges 4:1-7, Psalm 123 or Psalm 76, 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11, and Matthew 25:14-30. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, our God… We, your people, ones called to be light in the darkness of a world in chaos, have been blinded by the evil that surrounds us and have failed to be your Church. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, our God… We, your people, ones called to be messengers of hope in a world of despair, have turned our eyes away from the needs of those who live without hope while praying in anguish to you for help when it is us who are in need. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, our God… We, your people, ones called to use our talents and the spiritual gifts you have bestowed upon us to serve our communities, bring peace, and stand for justice in a world filled with hatred and greed, have allowed our fears to overwhelm us and prevent us from giving the best of us to fulfill your call in our lives. Have mercy upon us, O Lord, our God. Forgive our complacency and move us to action. Forgive our disregard for the needs of others and teach us to love. Forgive our fears and strengthen our faith. Help us to truly live up to our name: your people. Amen. Maylis de la Fe-Rodriguez, Provisional Elder, Aldersgate UMC, Chelmsford, MA
