A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar and the members of the Extended Cabinet are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

We held one hope that we might find a King But how could we know that He would be God with us Immanuel, come to us The King of Israel abides with us Abide with us, O Lord. Let us feel your holy presence that we would seek you first in this darkness and realize your glory always rests upon us. You alone are our Hope. We brought our best to celebrate a King Who'd left his throne so He could be God with us Immanuel, come to us The King of Israel abides with us Abide with us, O Lord. Let us see the world through your eyes that we would bring our best to you by caring for your children in need of nourishment of body and soul. You alone are our Bread of Life. In all our wisdom, we came to seek a king But how do you prepare to meet the Lord In all my wildest hopes, I never even dreamed Who the star was truly pointing toward What the star was truly shining for Abide with us, O Lord. Prepare our hearts to truly meet you in every moment, in every circumstance, with humble and contrite hearts. You alone are our Redeemer. God with us Immanuel, come to us In this little boy, who could know we'd find The Creator born Redeemer of mankind And the hand of God is reaching out for mine

Abide with us, O Lord. Reach out your hand to touch our weary souls that we would feel your deliverance and work for righteousness and peace here on earth. You alone are our Savior. Amen.

Brenda Borchers, Administrative Assistant to Bishop Devadhar Based on Isaiah 60:1-6, Psalm 72:1-7, 10-14, Matthew 2:1-12 and this video of “God With Us” sung by Todd Agnew
