A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, DC, is sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Gracious God — You are the God of all ages, who called Abraham and Sarah to journey to a land that you promised. In these days of uncertainty and wonder, you likewise call us, by faith, to journey according to your promise. We are grateful, O God, that as we journey, we know that you journey with us, and that those of us who share such faith in You, journey together. God, in your grace and mercy, we pray that you will instill in us love to overcome hatred, pardon to overcome injury, hope to overcome despair, faith to overcome doubt, light to overcome darkness, and joy to overcome sadness. Guide us, O God, through distress and despair, to places of peace and rekindled vision, hope and healing, that we may yet be catalysts in the transformation of the world, and that we may love kindness, do justice and walk humbly with you. And may our neighbors find us to be generous friends, through your son Jesus Christ, in whom we live, move and have our being. Amen.
