A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the Commonwealth East District of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today’s prayer

Psalm 126 Isaiah 61:1-4 We yearn for the place of dreams, O God; For a place where deserts stir with the rushing of water; For a place where the dry bones of death rise up with new flesh Able to breathe. We search for the place of dreams, O God; For a place where tears of brokenness become shouts of joy; For a place where the crops of young seedlings have all they need to grow Into the sheaves of adulthood; We hope for the place of dreams, O God; For the day when our “How long?” becomes “This is the day!” For the day when laughter joins our hearts as kinfolk At no one’s expense. In the tears of our yearning; In the fears of our searching; In the years of our hoping; Your Spirit is within us; your anointing is upon us. Move us from our bed of dreams to join the waking prophets And become the Good News we proclaim. Amen. Rev. Anne Robertson, Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church (Winchester, MA)
