A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis
During these difficult days, the United Methodist Foundation of New England
is sharing a daily prayer based on
the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.
Today’s prayer
Romans 12: 1-2
Jesus, I stand in full view of your mercy and feel the urge you have placed upon my heart. It is hard to comprehend with the wisdom the world provides what you are asking. How can I present my body as a sacrifice Lord? How can I make myself holy and pleasing to you?
Help me to turn away from the world’s conforming demands so that you may renew and transform my mind. Remove my heart of stone and replace it with your heart of mercy. For how can I discern your will, your Holy will with my mind stuck on worldly treasures and pleasures?
But the urge is strong, to give myself now, unready – warts an all. So with humility, knowing that it is your who makes me Holy, I present myself at the Altar rail, my body, my heart and mind as the sacrifice you desire and earnestly pray that my sacrifice be acceptable in your sight, and in full view of your mercy. Amen Written by Gary Melville, Director of Development, United Methodist Foundation of New England
