A Daily Prayer During this COVID-19 Crisis

June 23, 2021 A daily prayer from the New England Conference The clergy and laity of the New England Conference are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week. You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions. Today's Prayer Morning has broken like the first morning Blackbird has spoken like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for them springing fresh from the world Sweet the rains new fall, sunlit from Heaven Like the first dewfall on the first grass Praise for the sweetness of the wet garden Sprung in completeness where His feet pass Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning Born of the one light, Eden saw play Praise with elation, praise every morning God's recreation of the new day Morning has broken like the first morning Blackbird has spoken like the first bird Praise for the singing, praise for the morning Praise for them springing fresh from the world Eternal God, as we awake to a new creation, so full of possibilities, we recognize that you have created this day so abundant with your blessings. We bless your Holy name; for you alone have fashioned the mysteries of Kronos and Kairos. Help us to slow down and take account of the important moments which have shaped our days, and as we do so, may we gain a heart of wisdom. Give us courage and a sense of peace and calmness. As we look outward, we are increasingly amazed and concerned by the events of the world. Help us to realize that we are a part of an important wholeness in life, and we cannot live indifferently from those who suffer. We offer a prayer today for the world leaders. Give them the vision to shape a new world where self-interest is tempered and corrected by the power of your eternal love. We thank you for the many blessings which have come to us in every imaginable way. Help us accept the things of our past and not be ashamed. Give us power even in our weakness to overcome. Enable us to embrace the present with insight, enthusiasm, and purpose. Empower us to look to the future with confidence and hope, for it is in the Spirit of Christ we offer this prayer.
