A Daily Prayer During this COVID-19 Crisis

A daily prayer during this COVID-19 crisis

During these difficult days, members of the clergy class of 2020 are sharing a daily prayer based on the Revised Common Lectionary for the week.

You are welcome to use these in worship or in your own devotions.

Today's Prayer

Lord, thank You today for Your faithfulness and Your mercy and grace. You're always there when we need You. You've never turned us away and You've never failed us. Lord, thank You for showing us the ultimate example of what surrender truly is, through the gift of Your Son, and through the surrender of His life for our sins. Lord, we pray that you will helps us to submit our minds, our eyes, our mouth, our ears, our hands, our feet, our heart, our whole life to you. We know that following the way of Jesus is bearing cross and bearing cross is living our lives in Jesus’ name. Yes, Jesus’ message never guaranteed us a pleasant life. He instead guaranteed that trials would come to His followers. Sometimes, living in Jesus’ name demands sacrifice, and Jesus never hid that cost. But Lord, we believe that He promised that He would be there to us give us the joy and peace of the Holy Spirit, comfort us in our trials, and act as a faithful high priest who understands our struggles and accomplish for us peace with God by His blood. Lord, help us to live in Jesus’ name. We desire to live our lives as Jesus lived. We desire to follow the way of Jesus. We desire to do and say everything on the authority of His name and for the honor of His name. Today, we surrender all to You; our health, our family, our resources, occupation, skills, relationships, time management, emotions, fears, insecurities, successes, failures and everything. We release it, and let it go. Lord, 2000 years ago, as Jesus said to His disciples “If anyone would come after me he must deny himself, take up his cross daily and follow me,” now, 2000 years after that, we will deny ourselves, take up your cross daily and follow Jesus. Thank you for inviting us to live and pray in Jesus’ name. Guide us how to do that every day of our lives. We know you know what’s best for us, so we surrender ourselves to you, Holy One. May Thy will be done in us, through us, for us. We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
