Galatians 1:6-10
verse 10: Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ.
Pleasing others is a big issue for me. I care about what others think. I care more than I should. Pleasing others can be a result of loving them by being generous and kind to them. But needing to please others can become a reflection of our own needs. God’s approval is what is important. God’s approval is constant, living in me, as long as I accept it. Anticipating that approval should guide my decisions. Decisions made with God’s direction may or may not please others, but will please God.
Holy Lord, when I seek to please others, help me to discern the source of this need. Your approval is what I live for. May my life be a reflection of your love. Amen

Galatians 1:6-10 It would certainly be a surprise if you planted corn and pumpkins came up. We all know it is natural to reap what we sow. It is true in other areas as well. If you gossip about your friends you will lose their friendship. Every action has a consequence. If you plan to please your own desires you will reap a crop of sorrow and evil. If you’d plan to please God you will reap an everlasting life. It is discouraging to continue to do right and receive no word of thanks or see positive results. Paul does not pull any punches when he challenges the Galatian believers on their readiness to depart from the unchangeable, truth of …
Galatians 1: 6-10
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
This verse to me suggests a call to ministry. It is often difficult to have a conversation with people who do not think about Christ the same way that I see him. I tend to shy away from putting myself in this type of scene. Jesus conquered death and fixed everything that Adam destroyed. So if I find myself in a conversation about Jesus again in my life, I will do my best to offer what I kno…
Galatians 1:6-10
10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God?
This is a great question. I want to be liked and respected by those around me. That is much better than being in constant conflict. It is not always easy to know what pleases people. However, I believe that it is easier to know, if not to do, what pleases God. I have a book full of His desires and instructions for me.
Dear Lord, I am learning what you expect of me. Please help me to follow the lessons that I am learning. Amen.
Galatians 1:7 - “not that there is another gospel, but there are some who are confusing you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.”
The Gospel message on one hand seems astonishingly straightforward. How then is it confused or perverted? Satan is efficient and effective, especially when disguised as an angel of light. Teaching contrary to that of Jesus can be made to sound so loving, caring and just that even some pastors are led astray. They preach to what Paul called “itching ears” wanting only to hear what the they like, and never mention the cost of discipleship - the Cross of Jesus.
Prayer - Gracious God, protect us from confusion and perversion of Your Word. May we…

10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
This is my permanent conflict in my ministry as a pastor. I need to win the heart of the people in order to serve them to move closer to God and be more like Jesus. To do so, I need to get some kind of approval from human beings. At the same time, the ultimate goal of everything I do is to please God. But sometimes I need to please people to guide them…
