A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, September 30

2Corinthians 5:17-21

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

Colossians 1:21-22

Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation…

Sometimes I wonder if I started each day truly knowing, and certain I was accepted and loved by God, would my day be different? Would I be a better embassador for Christ? Is there something in me which holds me back from being my best self? In all honesty, it is easy for me to imagine I have already been judged by God. I grew up in church pretty much certain I could never measure up to the expectations our minister laid out each week. I will work on this, and listen for the Holy Spirit to guide me. God blesses me daily, answers prayers, and puts beautiful people in my path. May I recognize each and every one of these encounters as gifts from a loving God. I am truly thankful, and will try to be my best self, as an example of God’s love. Amen
