Psalm 40:1-5
I waited patiently for the LORD;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD
and put their trust in him.
Blessed is the one
who trusts in the LORD,
who does not look to the proud,
to those who turn aside to false gods.
Many, LORD my God,
are the wonders you have done, the things you planned for us.
None can compare with you;
were I to speak and tell of your deeds,
they would be too many to declare.
We have talked about this very message many times: “I called out to you, Lord, and you answered me.” Even though what we are going through may be very painful and difficult, things will change, there will be blessings. God is here with us, and is guiding us through. Our job is to listen for Him, to recognize and accept His will, and to be thankful for his many blessings.
Holy Lord, be with those who are suffering today. Help them to recognize and be thankful for their many blessings. Help me to do the same, I pray. Amen

Psalm 40:1-5.
Waiting on God is not easy, and being patient about it is often even harder. If I read Psalm 40 carefully, I see that while David waited, God lifted him from his lowest point, set him on solid ground, and put praise on his lips for others to hear. What this tells me is while I wait (patiently) I need to pull myself up and move forward, knowing God loves me and has heard my prayer and that now I should share that love with others so they will also trust in Him.
Prayer: Gracious God, we are so fixated on time and getting results, we often forget to turn to you. Help us trust that you a…

Psalm 40:1
I waited patiently for the lord, he turned to me and heard my cry.
The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. Verses like this fill me up each and every morning. It is a key reminder of God's unfailing love and compassion. It emphasizes that each day offers a fresh start, with new mercies and opportunities, regardless of the previous day's events. It doesn’t matter if your behind a slow driver, because your late for work, if the furnace stopped working, and there was no hot water. Troubles, oh yes…
Psalm 40:1-5
This passage resembles a “greatest hits” playlist from our reflections over the last several weeks. The words, “patiently,” “trust” and “planned” all appear in this hymn of praise. We cannot hear these things and rest in the consolation they bring enough. I have come to depend on God’s mercies made new each morning. In this season of life, every new day is a gift that I must never waste on worry, resentment or empty, worthless pursuits. The psalmist puts it plainly: nothing can compare with our God.
Prayer - Lord, thank you for the gift of this new day and another chance to live worthy of the calling You have placed on me. May my every word and…
