Colossians 1:19-20
For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things in earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross.
These verses seem at once so simple and so unfathomable. They describe the act of reconciliation that was Jesus' death on the cross. The "before and after" for me involves this entire Lenten season, and the image of the torn curtain. Any separation between God and His creation, whether supported by God or invented by man, was removed. The torn curtain allows me personal, individual access to God.
Holy One, you have sacrificed your Son to bring your creation closer to you and closer to one another. Let me live in this reconciliation, not taking it for granted, but fully understanding and appreciating its power and significance. Amen

The word reconciliation means to renew a friendship or to restore to a right relationship. Paul told this church that if anybody was going to be saved they needed to be reconciled to God—it must be through Christ. He is the only one who can renew our relationship with God. The only way that all of creation, including men and women, can be reconciled to God is by Jesus Christ. .The Colossians knew this, for they themselves have experienced his divine…
Colossians 1:19-20 The ironic twist of the torn curtain is that it mended humankind’s relationship to our Creator. Reconciliation can be hard work, particularly if the rift occurred a long time ago. Jesus sacrificed His humanity to reconcile us to God. The very least we can do to honor that sacred act is to sacrifice our pride to reconcile with those from whom we have become estranged. Rend something to mend something.
Prayer - Merciful God, grant me the wisdom and discernment to recognize opportunities to be reconciled rather than to continue in conflict and opposition. Grant me the courage to seek sanctification in becoming more like Christ. Amen
