A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, July 27

Psalm 24:1-2

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters.

If we remember where the world came from and who created it, we can remember we are invited guests. God did put us in charge of his creation, but it does not belong to us. Our decisions about anything which will alter the environment should be well thought-out. We are stewards, tenants and sojourners, not owners.

Lord God, how can we undo damage we have done over so many years? Please show me things I can do to be a better steward of your creation. Help me to be more thoughtful and considerate. Amen

Psalm 24:1-2

A Psalm of David. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, the world and those who dwell therein, for he has founded it upon the seas and established it upon the rivers.

People throw cigarette butts out their car window or onto the ground. Some leave their trash on the ground. It’s disgusting. We all call Earth home, but some individuals do not care when they illegally discard their garbage. When we see trash of that kind, we must pitch in. Pick up the trash and dispose of it correctly, Instead of merely shaking our heads, and do nothing….. do something. Appreciating the land that we live on means respecting the …

Psalm 24:1-2 I wonder at times if more folks spent just a bit more time being in and enjoying the great outdoors they would find themselves better and more dedicated stewards of creation. No matter the season or weather, pondering this gift we have been given naturally provokes an urge to protect and preserve it. No gesture of creation care is too small to say thanks to God.

Prayer - Creator God, keep me mindful of Your precious gift of creation to conduct myself in such a way as to treat it with respect in thanksgiving to You and as an act of solidarity with all who live in it. Amen

This world belongs to God and everyone who dwells in it. I will always remember, as I look up at the beautiful sky and meet all the wonderful people in my life, that God gave all this to me to nurture and care for. I can never forget that God created all this wonder for us and that we should take care to make it a better place to be.

Dearest Lord, you created all this wonder, and I am forever grateful for this. May I never forget…

Psalm 24:1–2 The earth is the Lord’s and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. We are the caretakers of our Lord’s earth. It is our duty to take proper care of the world around us as best we can. It is too big a job for any one person, but we can each do our part. Too many use the world’s resources as if they were only for them. Prayer: Gracious God, I will do my best to honor the world around me and care for your gift so others may enjoy it in the future. Amen
