Ephesians 5:15-16

Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.

Take every opportunity to do the right thing and don’t pass up a chance to show love. I have become bolder in my senior years. There have been many opportunities (to show love) I have passed up over the years just due to timidity on my part. It still happens too often. My goal is to make these missed opportunities fewer and fewer, and to become bolder and bolder with the Holy Spirit guiding me.

Holy Lord, help me to follow the guidance of your Holy Spirit. Show me opportunities and give me courage to follow through. Amen

Ephesians 5:15-16

Very rarely does a day go by that we do not have an opportunity to do something for someone. It may be simply a smile to a stranger or a hug for someone having a really rotten day, or maybe something more. In this crazy world where so much turmoil and wickedness abound, any opportunity we have to lift up someone or help them in someway we should take.

Dear God, please remind me every single day to step out with the intention of making someone’s day better. Amen.

Ephesians 5:15-16

Paul offers great advice that remains valid today. Given how bad the world can be, we must seize every opportunity we are given to choose a more excellent way. When one makes a regular habit of integrity, kindness, compassion and generosity, they become second nature. The days are evil. Why make them worse?

Prayer - Gracious God, help me increase in wisdom by living a life that honors Your precepts. I do not wish to contribute to the evil in the world. I want to be an instrument of Your peace. Amen

Ephesians 5:15-16

The kind of opportunities I like to find at this stage of my life are: the opportunity to learn something new and the opportunity to help someone. I'm fortunate to be able to learn as I travel to places and meet new people. Helping others and serving are easier and cost nothing except time. Visiting the lonely, writing cards, and telling stories are mostly what I do. I think those things can mean so much to some people. Keeping their connections is so important to those who cannot be out and about.

Prayer: Gracious God, Thank you for showing me the opportunities that you need me to do. Thank you for the gifts you have given me th…

Ephesians 5:15-16

Be very careful then how you live , not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil.

The Bible teaches us about God’s people, and certainly teaches about Jesus. The Bible also teaches us how to pray and how to live as a follower of Jesus. But I don’t always think about the Bible as teaching me to become wise,  but there is a whole book of the Bible – Proverbs – dedicated to wisdom. Living wisely is important to God, and so it should be important to us. I certainly have respect for the Lord, but I must take the time to listen and learn and…
