A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, December 21

Ephesians 4:11-13

So Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.

These verses follow up on our topic of "honor" from last week. Honoring those who lead in the church is scriptural. Jesus calls each and every one of these leaders to do what they are doing. He leads them, to lead us. We still need to be watchful, and careful, though. I think sometimes even though called by God, personalities and personal desires can get in the way. Sometimes even leaders lose their way.

Holy Lord, thank you for the leaders you have sent to help me to grow. Amen

Becky, transforming

Ephesians 4:11-13

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

In this world today there are relatively new Christians, taking advantage of the different opportunities for learning God’s Word. Others are more mature in their faith and involved in ministry to others. Never grow weary in this work( and it is work) As we grow in the faith and apply the Word …

Ephesians 4:11-13

Jesus’ initial charge was to “the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers“ of the time, but the mission goal was that “all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the son of God.” As kids in the car are inclined to say, “Are we there yet?” Much has been accomplished in 2000 years with more people claiming Christ than in any time in history. In recent years, the cause of Christ is losing ground in the West while it is thriving in other parts of the world. The immensity of the task before us today is why Wesley sought to unleash “the ministry of all believers“ over the entire globe. In 2022/3…

By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” John 13:35.

I received this verse today from YourVersion.com. I receive one each day and I thought it fit very well with what we are talking about here. The simple act of showing love is a strong ministry. Showing love can…

Ministry is a service to God and to others. This to me does not always mean being a pastor or a deacon. It means doing what we can in the service of God. Recently, I became an usher in my church. This is not me, but I decided to do this to help the church. This…
