A Daily Devotion for Wednesday, August 11

1Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

These words today speak clearly to me. It is not that I am incapable of resisting temptation, and it is not that there is no choice other than to give in. God created each and every one of us equipped and capable of making the right choice. My job is to find that way out and to take that path before my emotions take hold.

Father God, You created me in your image, capable of many good things, and with a free will. Help me, Lord, to see the right path and the right way. Help me to make the right choice. Amen

1 Corinthians 10:13 Desires and temptation happens to everyone. This verse is such a stark reminder of how to handle temptation when we feel that situation about to take place. Temptation can be resisted because God will help us resist it. Becky’s comment in last night’s discussion is exactly what that above promise from God is all about. We are not puppets where someone else is in control. We are able to recognize the people and the situation ahead of time that might get us into trouble.I have learned to listen to my intuition plus the holy Spirit and remember to refrain from anything I know is wrong. I have experienced this verse more times than I can count.I ju…

1 Corinthians 10: 13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

Temptation is part of everyone’s life. I have often said to myself, “no one has had to experience something like this.” Everyone has a turn at being tempted. Temptation happens but God is always there and is always faithful to us. I feel that God will not allow us to be tempted beyond what we can handle. So I will attempt to not feel sorry for myself and know that God…

1 Corinthians 10:13 The Temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so you can endure. So often in the middle of a trial or temptation, we feel so alone. Surely no one else has been where we are. Paul is telling us that everyone faces trials and temptations. We are being reminded that God will not let us down if we seek his help. He will have an answer for us. He will show us to a better way. Prayer: Gracious God, In times of temptation, please guide me to yo…

1 Corinthians 10:13

. . . And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.

I believe God does not put burdens on us that we cannot bear, but I also believe that his support is not forthcoming unless we ask for it. It is the act of prayer that gives us the strength to endure the difficulty or fight off the temptation.

Dear Lord, I don’t always bring my problems to you. It is not the first thing that I think of. Please help me to be more willing and able to talk to you. Amen.

1Corinthians 10:13 In our discussion last night we all seemed to agree that temptation itself is not of God. This morning’s verse takes that thought to the next level. While not the author of the temptation, God “has our back” in those situations. If we choose to take the wrong path it is because we have ignored or failed to look for the means provided by God to escape the temptation at hand. It Is as if we were drowning and simply refused to reach out to the person trying to rescue us. We are told by the flight attendant, “Take a moment to find the nearest emergency exit. Remember, it may be behind you.” It is our responsibility to look.…
