A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, September 8

Updated: Sep 8, 2020

Ephesians 6: 13-20

verses 17-18: Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Lately I have felt God reminding me to pray, to talk to Him. We can’t know someone well unless we talk to them. And what brings two people close is the sharing part. If I talk more to God, and share my hopes, fears, regrets and successes, He will know me better, and I will see Him more clearly. I know God sees and knows everything already, but I believe it is the process of making ourselves vulnerable to God which brings us closer. And in turn we understand God a little better when we see His movement in our lives. When we show God our vulnerabilities, He can provide us with the armor we need.

Heavenly Father, I need to spend more time in prayer. You provide me with all of the armor I need to survive in this existence, and the next. I want to know you better, and to utilize everything you have made available to me. Amen

20200908 Tue, Daily Devotion - Ephesians 6:20

[Ephesians 6:20, NLT] I am in chains now, still preaching this message as God's ambassador. So pray that I will keep on speaking boldly for him, as I should.

All humans have sinful nature which is in us something like an instinct. Sin is a tendency of moving away from God. The meaning of Sin in Hebrew is ‘going astray.’ All of us have this tendency without tying ourselves to the holy one in different ways. From today’s scripture, even Paul said that the reason he tied himself in (holy chains) is to keep on speaking boldly for Jesus Christ. Otherwise, he knew what he is going to look like.

Lord, thank you…

Ephesians 6: 13-20 First we are given the belt of truth( the word of God) Second  the breastplate of righteousness Third shoes of peace Fourth the shield of faith Fifth the helmet of salvation Lastly the most important , sword of the spirit.   This is one of the best Scripture lessons for me. , I started out thinking  the armor of God was to fight only against Satan. Then the Spirit of God shared that I am covered with my own armor every day. Christ‘s word reminds me that He is my righteousness,  He is my peace , he is my salvation. Jesus was tempted by Satan I surely am as well. The Armor reminds me of how He has blessed me as He cov…

Ephesians 6:13 - “ Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.”

One often hears overheated rhetoric about spiritual warfare these days, but the concept is nothing new. Jesus faced it in the desert, and the apostles often faced bitter, even violent opposition. We’re not at that point in society today but trends are sobering. Believers must have confidence in knowing that the full armor of God will cover and protect us When the times are evil.

Prayer - God of protection, keep me ever confident in the power of Your Word and the divine strength it has against the forces…
