John 15:1-6
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.”
It is certainly true that many live their lives without ever coming to know Jesus. And they manage on their own, to one degree or another. But they are missing so much! So much comfort, peace, guidance and so much hope! I wish I could find a way to express what God has done for me- in words which would invite others to seek Him. This would be a worthwhile project. In fact, I wonder if there is a way to have a class or a group to work on this….. Are there books out there about preparing personal witness stories?
Holy Lord, it is occurring to me now that yesterday I lamented the lack of an exciting witness story, and today I am feeling led to write one of my own- maybe not exciting, but genuine and truthful, and full of the hope that I feel. Lead me, Lord. I am so very thankful. Amen

John 15:5
There was a day when I felt I had to accomplished everything by myself successfully--until the day it didn't. It was a humbling lesson, but never forgotten. The main character in a book series I have read teaches his police recruits that it is ok to say:
I don't know
I need help
I'm sorry
I was wrong
I do like to be in control of things, but I've learned that being in control doesn't mean I have to do all the work by myself. I've learned to delegate pieces of a project to other very capable people.
Prayer: Gracious God, My I always remember to include others as I do my work. They might benefit more th…

John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.
All the life and growth of a branch is in the vine, and the branch can only receive it as long as it remains connected to the vine, The branch is entirely dependent on the vine for it needs to grow and bear fruit. Of course we want to study God’s word and pray. When we really love God and he is first in our lives everything we do , we do with him, through…
John 15:1-9
“No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.” Since our beginnings, humans have been deceived by the lie that they are their own god, master of their universe, in total control of their destiny. This never has and never will be true, but Satan continues the lie because it is so inticing. On the other hand, the branch has its own role to play in promoting its thriving on the vine, capturing and using energy and nutrients to promote growth. As branches of the vine that is our Triune God, neither can we be passive and expect to grow in faith. We must promote our spiritual growth and formation with the energy and…
