Psalm 119:18-20
Open my eyes that I may see
wonderful things in your law.
I am a stranger on earth;
do not hide your commands from me.
My soul is consumed with longing
for your laws at all times.
Sometimes I think that parts of our faith can become so natural that we don’t even think about them anymore. Just like the beauty of the natural world, we can become so “used to” His presence that we no longer see Him. God waits for us to seek him, but never leaves.
Holy Lord, May I continue to seek you, to follow you, and to listen with my whole being, to do your will. Amen

Psal, 119:18-20. Open My Eyes
Of course, when I read today's theme, I immediately thought of our hymn with that title. We sing its verses often. I did some research when I notice that a woman had written both the words and music--Clara Scott. She published "The Royal Anthem Book" in 1882. The first ever by a woman. She wrote "Open My Eyes" in 1895. This is her best known hymn. She died in a tragic accident at age 55. Our hymnal has only 3 of the 4 verses she wrote. Psalm 119:18-20
I pray frequently to ask God to help me understand His word. Many parts of the Bible are very difficult for me to understand. Thankfully there are many resources to help me better understand what I am reading. I routinely spend time daily in God’s word, it is a usual circumstance if I do not. Reading and spending time to understand the word is like daily sustenance, just like needing food and water to survive, I need God’s word to survive.
Dear God, thank You for the gift of Your word, the instruction manual for my life.
I ask that You please help me to spend time with You daily and help me to understand all that is…
