Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.

Habakkuk 3:18(19)

…yet I will rejoice in the LORD,

I will be joyful in God my Savior.

The Sovereign LORD is my strength;

he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,

he enables me to tread on the heights.

I have grown to love the verses from Ecclesiastes. One can’t help but see that as life goes on we experience so many joys as well as many painful times. During this week of Thanksgiving, I will keep this passage handy. God’s gift of life here on earth is complicated. It is not all roses, for sure. But we are rich in God’s love, and we know where we are going. For that, I am truly thankful.

Holy Lord, you are truly my Shepherd. I am safe as long as I have you. I am thankful for where your Holy Spirit has led me. Help me to stay on track, to grow in your love, and to stay in a place of peace. Amen

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The Ecclesiastes reading today is beautiful and for me never gets old. It is certain, that, in this earthly life, there will be hardship, and God is there to see us through, there will always be joy on the other side. Although we may not understand it, God‘s will always has purpose.

Dear Lord, thank You for being with me in all seasons of my life. I know that all you do has purpose. Help me to understand that, and to relinquish my hardships to you and to always, always be grateful for the joy in my life that You have given me.

Amen

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Habakkuk 3:18-"I will rejoice in the Lord. I will joy in the God of my salvation."

Today's author speaks of the prophet Habakkuk having confidence in God. Everything was going wrong for him yet he knew that God was near and Habakkuk had faith. This is what is often difficult for us non-prophets. When everything in your world is going wrong and you cannot see or feel any hope for the future, it is often difficult to understand where God is. We must have faith that God is there with us and will see us through this season into one of peace, healing, and maybe even the joy Habakkuk speaks of.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8/Habakkuk 3:18(19)

I was planning on having lunch in Atlantic City then attending the afternoon sessions of the conference I am at. It was not to be. I arrived to my hotel around 10:00 PM and went straight to bed after a day of flight delays and cancellations, eventually leaving the airport and taking a train. There is a time for everything and yesterday found me tying up several

loose ends. As much as I complain about technology, it was good to have a laptop with me. With Habakkuk, I rejoice in the Lord over what I was able to get done despite the travel difficulties.
