Mark 10:46-52
Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.” “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart
and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to him,
and he will make your paths straight.
There are certainly times in my life when I don’t know what to do to solve a problem. My issue often is this: Is there something I should be saying or doing that would make things better or fix things? Is there something I am missing? This line of thinking leads to much angst and worry. Unfortunately it is where my brain often settles in. I am realizing this morning as I write this, that this thinking is contrary to God’s will for me, as I am told to trust Him, to not be anxious about anything, and to turn to Him always in prayer and petition, with thanksgiving.
Holy Lord, I come to you this morning humbled and asking forgiveness. You are greater and more powerful than any pain I may experience. You are ever-present, willing to lead and guide and forgive. I trust you with everything. Amen
