Proverbs: 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
This proverb reminds me today of how much I need my Christian friends and family to help me to grow. I have learned so much from others, just by listening and watching. And when we gather together to share and learn from each other, I can only imagine God is pleased and blesses our growing. I would love for us to have even more people joining together on Tuesdays. I will pray to God for an increase!
Holy One, when we gather to learn from your Word, we know you are with us, helping us to listen and grow. Today I ask for something specific: could even more join us on Tuesday? There is so much to learn and there is always more to think about. I am so thankful. Amen

Proverbs 27:17
As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.
It does matter who and what we spend time with. I remember telling my daughters to choose their friends wisely as you were often judged by the company you keep.. To this day, they all have many friends both old and new who support each other. I find that at this stage of my life, dear old friends are the best. They know everything about me and even though we have all taken different roads spiritually, we all respect those different roads. I also hope that I am an example/mentor to those around me.
Prayer: gracious God, I pray that my example shows that in God’s work age…

This simple statement indicates that no one is alone. In order to make myself better, there is a mutual benefit making others better as well, through mentorship, fellowship and leading. When I am in the presence of a strong believer it certainly makes my spiritual walk more positive. What god does for me may not be what he does for someone else, what I need to remember is simply not to be concerned about God’s guidance for other…
Proverbs: 27:17 Every Christian needs at least one relationship like this. Unfortunately they are rare. How many people can you really count on to be lovingly honest with you? Honest enough to tell you when you have missed the mark in your walk with God. Timothy had this in Paul. John Mark had this in Barnabas. As I reflect on those who have been and are mentors to me, I give thanks for their iron and hope to pass their gift on as I mentor others.
Prayer - Merciful God, let me be the iron that sharpens the iron of those who You place in my path to mentor. I think especially of my time as a chaplain at the National…
