Psalm 63:1
O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you,
in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Even though I have never been physically cast out or lost in a desert, I know what it is to long for God. It is truly like a thirst. God created my body and soul just the way it should be. In that creation is a longing to know God, my creator. This is no happy accident. God is part of our every day, every moment, and is the water we thirst for.
Holy One, Thank you for making me just the way I am. You created all of us with a yearning inside- a yearning to find you and to know you. I pray there be an awakening of this yearning in all your creation. May I be a part of that? Amen

Psalm 63:1
O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly; My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You, In a dry and weary land where there is no water. When Davis wrote this Psalm 63 he was surrounded with difficulties. He trudged through the dry waterless Judea wilderness. He was without friends, hunted by enemies, and placed in exile from his people and homeland. But in simple, yet beautiful language, he compares his deep yearning for the Lord with the land that is dry and desolate. Life often takes us through the weary places and same difficulty as David , on this journey through life. As my years grow older and my spiritual journey gets stron…
Psalm 63:1
lt has been unusually hot for New England the last few days. Becky and I had a conversation recently about how when one is really parched, the most welcome beverage is cold water. The instant relief it brings is glorious. So it is with the Living Water of Jesus Christ. Kay, Becky and I play softball on Monday evenings in a church league in Concord. We all bring water to stay hydrated during the game, but we all receive Living Water when both teams gather around home plate to pray before the game. It is a moment of encouragement and refreshment that we could stand more of in life.
Prayer - Jesus, our Living Water, we long for…
Psalm 63: 1 You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.
I can feel the love and yearning David had for God in this verse. With God in our lives we are never alone. God is always there to help us through all of life’s challenges. David’s love for God was so great. You can feel it when you read the Psalm. Longing for God is part of our life and working towards that end is what I have been charged with on this earth.
Dearest Lord, I long for you. I wait to hear that small voice…
Psalm 63:1 Oh God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirst for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water. In David’s long and storied life, there is one constant—God. He calls on God in his good times and bad. He rejoices and he repents. In this passage, he is alone and yet he knows it is God he needs, not just anyone. Are we like David? Do we know who to call on when we are at our lowest or who to rejoice with when things are good? Prayer: gracious God be my constant reminder that it is you and you only who can offer comfort. Amen
