Matthew 8:18-26
verse 21: She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
The woman who had been bleeding for many years approached Jesus to be healed. Jesus noticed her touch, and turned and healed her. This was a condition she had suffered for a very long time. It had become part of her identity, to be sure. It may have led to her being something of an outcast. But Jesus healed her, due to her faith.
Again I think about the effect this must have had on the crowd, who saw and heard what had happened. How many people turned to follow Jesus after seeing this? I am wondering if I allow the blessings of others to strengthen my own faith. Do I take in every miracle of creation and allow it to strengthen my faith? Do I notice God’s touch on others and allow that to work in me?
Holy Father, You are at work every moment of every day. Help me to see your healing hand, wherever it moves, and whatever the result. Amen

Matthew 9: 18-26
Jesus relates wonderfully with people who have faith. Our faith establishes a strong relationship with Jesus. The suffering woman was completely content to avoid any physical meeting with Jesus . She puts all her faith in the actual contact with his cloak, which she thought would heal her. Jesus heals the suffering woman because her action in reaching out and touching the hem of his garment was the supreme act of faith in his eyes. A local official with the same supreme act of faith pleads to Jesus for healing of his daughter, who doesn’t even happen to be present. The confidence shown by the father and by the woman here ,tells me that my own fa…
Matthew 9: 18-26
21 She said to herself, “If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.”
If only I had the faith of this woman. This touching of Jesus’ cloak by this woman was a complete act of faith in His eyes. I have to let go of my need to control a situation and let the limitless healing and renewal that Jesus can accomplish work in my life. I want to have the same faith as this woman and truly believe that Jesus can heal me.
Dearest Lord I am in need of healing. Each time I feel as if I do better, I become aware of a lack of faith. I know you are there for…
Matthew 9:18 - “While he was saying these things to them, suddenly a leader of the synagogue came in and knelt before him, saying, ‘My daughter has just died; but come and lay your hand on her, and she will live.’”
Faith sometimes involves risk. Who was this “leader of the synagogue”? Could he have been a scribe or Pharisee, perhaps even a member of the Sanhedrin? Given the growing animosity toward Jesus, this public display of faith was not a career enhancer. The prospect of losing his daughter versus healing at Jesus’ laying of hands helped him find the courage to declare his faith despite the social cost. I read last night the accounts of three individuals in other…
