A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, February 8

Writer: ontrakkontrakk

1 Corinthians 1:30

It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God- that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

This week has brought this truth home to me: we are nothing without God. Without God there is no sanctification. He provides the increase. And even more importantly, He provided us a way, through Jesus Christ! Jesus the teacher, Jesus the most holy example, walked this earth among us. He was a living, breathing treasure map! May I never ever lose sight of the treasure of Jesus Christ, and the way to sanctification.

Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to show the way for us. You have provided a path for me- May I keep to it. Amen

1 Corinthians 1:30

My own human wisdom is of no concern to God, but Christ became my teacher because the knowledge of all wisdom dwells in him. My sins have no such thing as righteousness but Christ became my righteousness, for God made Him who had no sin to be sin for me, so that in Him I might become the righteousness of God. Just as we are unable to save ourselves we cannot sanctify ourselves, but Christ is our sanctification for through His life and death, He sanctified Himself so that we may be sanctified by the truth. And we all are all justified freely by His grace, through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.Paul tells us th…

Today I read Oswald Chambers devotional for February 8th. It is titled, “The Cost of Sanctification.” It asks the question are we prepared to measure up to what that really means? Are we prepared to pay the cost of sanctification? Sanctification means to be intensely focused on God’s point of view. The cost will be a deep restriction of our earthly concerns, and an extensive cultivation of all our godly concerns. Sanctification means to be intensely focused on God’s point of view. I was speaking with David this morning and expressed…

1 Corinthians 1:30 God has given us Jesus and he has given Jesus all the wisdom we need to be on life‘s path with him. To stay on that path, however, we need to daily read his word and pray. Often, we let the world detour us from our walk. This verse reminds us of the great gift God has given us. We should never think this gift is insignificant. It is the pathway to living that God has offered us through Jesus. Prayer: Gracious God, help me avoid the detours that take me away from you. Amen

1 Corinthians 1:30 Paul wrote such densely packed sentences. Wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption are all embodied in Jesus Christ, whose mission is to share these things with all people. Our acceptance of Jesus as Savior heralds redemption. As we grow in faith we have the opportunity to gain the other three, the sum total of which is our sanctification. May it be so for each of us.

Prayer - Jesus, bearer of wisdom, righteousness, holiness and redemption, guide me on these paths and allow me to stay focused on these and none other. May my journey be such that it reflects Your love and attracts others to Your light. Amen
