A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, August 23

Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

It is so difficult to see beyond hurt or beyond anger. This verse reminds me my feelings in the moment are not really what is important. If I could remember to think beyond that moment, I would again be in God’s company, able to rejoice and take comfort in Him. There is always so much to be thankful for.

Father God, I forget to rejoice in your constant presence. You are always with me, a source of joy which can never be extinguished. Amen

Philippians 4:4 Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

In Jesus there is redemption and sanctification. True joy and genuine happiness are a gift of grace from God. I should rejoice in the Lord and pray always giving thanks to the Lord for all he has done for me.

Dearest Lord, thank You for Your gift of joy and happiness. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Philippians 4:4

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.

It seems like our world is on the edge of collapse. I am anxious about recession and unemployment. I worry about our retirement funds. I worry about the future of our children/grandchildren I feel there is an invisible enemy waiting to take over. Stock market dives, natural disasters, violence, and political unrest, How do I rejoice In the midst of all these threatening world-wide times and difficulties, I think that Jesus’ advice to me might be, rejoice in the lord always, again I say rejoice. In the midst of all these threatening world-wide times and difficulties, I forget that god has given me …

Philippians 4:4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again – rejoice. Paul wrote these words from jail. Amazing that he is telling us to rejoice in the Lord. He knew, as we should, that no matter what happens to us, Jesus is with us. We need to be reminded of this every day. It is so easy to get discouraged and forget this fact. We need to hear this as did the Philippians. Prayer: gracious God, thank you for the reminder that true joy comes with knowing you. Amen

Philippians 4:4

In this age of perpetual complaint and offense, Paul’s words can be ignored or forgotten altogether. We need to all take a page from Barbara’s book and decide to be joyful before our feet hit the floor in the morning. This decision makes our lives and that of those around us lighter and it just may prove contagious.

Prayer - Bountiful God, may I never cease to rejoice in You and all the gifts of Your hands. I give You thanks and praise and pray the light of these gives illuminates the path of those who do not know You. Amen
