A Daily Devotion for Tuesday, August 11

Ephesians 4:1-16

verse 14-15 Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ.

What a beautiful little church in this photo! What happened to all of the people who used to walk to this church building to pray and worship God? I hope they are safe, in God’s presence. I hope that the congregation outgrew their building, and needed to move to a bigger place. We can’t let the world keep us away from our worship. I can’t be an infant, allowed to be carried around from here to there. “Instead, speaking the truth in love we will in all things grow up into him that is the Head, that is, Christ.” I am thinking this morning about the Methodist Church and all it faces. What will happen to us? What will God do with us?

Father God, please lead the Methodist Church to unity. I know with you all things are possible. There is no room for divisiveness and anger in your church. There are so many other, better things for the church to do. Help us, Father. Amen
