Proverbs 16:8
Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.
We all know the old adage, "Life isn't fair." But this is a very worldly message. Because God is ultimately always fair. On this earth, things seem to happen to people randomly, without reason or fairness. But when we have a choice in how we treat others, we need to be fair. The only thing we can control is our own behavior. So, even when one could "get ahead" or make a profit off of another, by taking advantage or not being honest, it is a bad idea. We must be fair in our dealings on this earth, as God will be fair with us through eternity.
Holy Lord, we don't understand why things happen to us and to others, when there doesn't seem to be a reason for it. It often seems unfair to us. But we can control how we treat others, and rest assured this is how you want us to live our lives. We will better understand your plan when it is time. Amen

Proverbs 16:8
Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice.
It is better to manage your income wisely and be in good standing with God, rather than to live an unjust life with worldly wealth. All who become rich by immoral means will be punished by the Lord. Money, luxury homes, cars, and overflowing possessions can only last so long as this life. They offer wealthy unbelievers no defense in the day of judgement. . Why do so few live successful lives before God and men? Because the world’s priorities are opposite than God’s priorities! The world measures success by a college education, a successful career, a comfortable home, and a good retirement…
Proverbs 16:8
The choice is ours to make: be fair in all your dealings and satisfied with what you have; or cheat others and get rich. I’m not sure I could live that dishonest a life. The guilt would wear me down. I simply don’t understand a person who doesn’t feel guilt about their wrongdoings.
Prayer: gracious God, thank you for choices and thank you for your directions that keep my choices fair. Amen
Proverbs 16:Their are scores of examples of “much gain with injustice” in the history of all nations. Typically that gain benefits a privileged few. Solomon reminds us that gain with righteousness is not as spectacular, but is the way God has intended us to advance. I am yet again reminded of the communal life of the Bruderhof and similar groups that seem to mirror Scripture so much more closely than the world around them. They could teach us much, but few listen to the kind of message they bear In this modern, me first, world.
Prayer - God of justice, may I always act motivated by righteousness, accepting what may be smaller gain, and rejecting larger gain at the expense…
