John 4:4-42

The story of the woman at the well is a favorite of many. I have always been attracted to it. Today I read it thinking about Jesus' choice of this woman, at this time and place. This one-on-one encounter with Jesus feels very intentional. Jesus chose this woman, told her things about herself, and then told her all about Himself. She believed, and because of her sharing and spreading this Truth, many people came to follow Jesus. And the repercussions of this encounter continued long after that day. In the series, "The Chosen", this encounter is brought to life in a very accessible and beautiful way. Jesus chose a woman to play this very important role in his ministry, and a flawed woman, at that.

Holy Lord, there is so much for me to learn from this one simple story. I am thankful to be a woman in your world, and I know I have an important role. Thank you for calling me to follow you. Amen

Jesus said to her, “will you give me a drink.” (For his disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.) ...

While His disciples were away Jesus encountered a Samaritan woman coming to draw water from the well. He asked her for a drink, and their talk took off from there ending…

John 4:4-42

The story of the Samaritan woman at the well meeting Jesus is quite familiar to those of us in this group. If only every young woman who is struggling could read this story. It is so important to realize that we are loved and accepted no matter what. Samaritan or Jew, servant or free, sinner or saint, man or woman. God knows us all inside and out and he plays no favorites. For me, however, one of the best parts of this story is that, again, like Anna yesterday, she went and told everyone about Jesus and they met him and became believers.

Prayer: Gracious God, my prayer, today, is that someone is told this story and i…
