A Daily Devotion for Thursday, February 10

2 Corinthians 3:18

And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

This verse reminds me that sanctification is real and it can be visible to others. I am picturing the Holy Spirit living in me, and as it lives and works in me, God’s glory shines more brightly from me. Maybe the “scent of Christ“ is God’s glory, too.

Heavenly Father, Shine your light in me today, and I will help it to be visible through my words and actions. Lord, please help Dave to recover quickly and completely from COVID. Please be with Barb so she does not worry. Amen

Becky, transforming

2 Corinthians 3:18

The question that comes to my mind is if God has all the glory, which He does, than how do I give Him glory. How can I give God something which is his in the first place. To glorify God means dignity, honor, praise and worship. As I continue to understand and acknowledge His greatness, I want to give Him honor by praising and worshiping Him, because he and only he deserves to be praised, honored and worshiped. As I write this a certain hymn comes to mind. To God be the glory great things He has done so loved He the world that He gave us His Son Who yielded His life an atonement for sin …

I saw this line as I read about glory and wanted to share it, “ It is the new baby-life-in-Christ that was given to me when I first trusted Him as savior that is to grow in grace.” It is through the work of the Holy Spirit that we are able to grow in the glory that is Jesus Christ. We grow in grace and mature in our faith as we grow in the glory that is Christ.

Dearest Lord, I have a long way to go to…

2 Corinthians 3:18

Paul’s use of the phrase, “unveiled faces” is interesting. Is he echoing the Old Testament episode of Moses having to wear a veil because of the brightness of God’’s glory reflecting from his face after his encounter on the holy mountain? Perhaps Paul is implying we should fully reflect every bit of God’s glory given to us by the Holy Spirit with no filter or hindrance to any and all we encounter. The more we reflect God’s glory in living the Christian life, the more others will be drawn to the Kingdom of God.

Prayer - God of eternal brilliance, remove any worldly veil from my face and allow me to fully reflect Your glory to…
